Finding Niche - STEM Laboratory

 

SMCM prepares every Marian for the 21st century learning, engaging its students as well as teachers of quality education thru a world – class laboratory.   STEM LAB stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Laboratories that makes SMCM as 2nd to have outside USA, thus given the permit to offer and operate here in the Philippines. Activities set for these laboratories are elective classes with Performance tasks for Junior and Senior High School students. The said activities entail 20 modules to be offered to grade 7 until grade 12.

The students may work by pair or by group choosing modules of their own interests out of the 20 set of modules offered for grades 7 to 12. Conducting the activities is in the following format:

Students must choose the same module for Mastery and in preparation for COLLEGE

The students work on each module for ten (10) - day working period, with their Science teachers in supervision. A full-time STEM LAB-in-charge, Miss Leonilyn Cortes, a Physics teacher who receives full training in Bloomfield Academy at Las Piñas, leads the collaboration of the teacher-student scientific learning for the 21st Century (Cynthia Robles, 2017).
